The Australian Soccer Pools are also known as The Pools or 6 From 38 Pools. The game is different from other Australian lotto games where the numbers are drawn at random because the 6 from 38 Pools are based on soccer scores in Australia, Europe & the UK.
Don't worry if you're not a football follower, the 6 from 38 Pools takes the football matches being played and puts them in a match list. This list is then numbered from 1-60. Those numbered 1-38 are the ones generally used, with the remainder being reserve matches, which replace any matches from the first 38 which are postponed or otherwise voided.
Once the 38 games are played and the scores are known, all matches are ranked, starting with match number 38, and working down to match one. The matches are ranked highest if it ends in a draw and the higher the draw score, for example 3-3 draw will rank higher than a 1-1 draw. Matches are then ranked by which team won by closest margin for example, a match where the winning team won by two goals will rank higher than a match where the winning team won by six goals.
Once the games have been ranked, the numbers of the six highest-ranked games become the winning numbers, with the seventh becoming the supplementary. In the case of ties - where two games end up with the same score, the higher game number is ranked higher, so game 23 will rank higher than game 17.
